Welcome to July’s update of the list. It’s been a fairly quiet month, hampered by illness and whatnot, but I like to think of it as “the calm before the storm” so to speak. The month of July is alreadt shaping up to be rather great, with plenty of gallic themed films in celebration of the trip to Paris that bookends this month, as well as some of the more interesting theatrical releases of the summer coming up. While there isn’t much movement towards the top of the list, with the only notable exception really being Laurent Cantet’s The Class landing at number 12 (and higher than Citizen Kane), the bottom of the chart see’s two of this summers biggest blockbusters missing out on the top 200 entirely. Its been a fairly lacklustre summer for quality blockbusters.
