Dude I loved everyone in this film. I completely loved the way Cattrall talked with way too much exposition. It worked so well in establishing an absurd twist to a feeling of being left out in the dark.

It was as if, as a viewer, we were so clueless that the characters on screen had to explain the whole backstory to us.

Cheers guys. Is it wrong that I actually liked Kim Cattrall in this film?

Victor Wong is great, and its testament to his performance in BTILC that it sufficiently overshadowed his turn in the dreadful Year of the Dragon.

Im glad you picked up on the hero/sidekick switchup, and seconding Josh, Victor Wong is amazing.

although I basically reinforce the idea that it has modern day relevance, i agree its questionable as well. I think at the heart of it, its more a critique of hollywood conventions and traditions that were altogether getting out of hand by a cultural standpoint.

Nice write-up, I pretty much agree with almost everything you wrote. I love that you highlight Victor Wong, he is one of the best actors involved. In particular his exchange with Russell about the potion, “What is it?” “Black blood of the Earth.” “What, you mean oil?” “NO. Black blood of the Earth!”
