Apologies for my slackness of late, but its been a hectic week.

I went to the fantastic Ultraculture cinema on Wednesday, where Bong Joon-Ho’s latest flick, Mother made an appearance. It was an entertaining little whodunit, a much subtler affair than Bong’s previous flick The Host, and a film which I enjoyed very much. I’m not sure quite where the Hitchcock comparisons stem from (aside from maybe a few musical cues), as the entire focus of the film works in a manner very dissimilar from the work of Hitch, but as an off-kilter, psychodrama Mother proved a success, with a killer climax.

The chaotic, circus like atmosphere in which the film was presented in via Ultraculture was great, providing a genuinely refreshing cinematic experience. Next months should be truly spectacular, with a film that, from the promotional material thus far released at least, would appear to compliment the tone of the evening perfectly.
