The Hope Lies Universal 100

Universal Pictures are 100 years old this year, so to celebrate we’re watching 100 films from the legendary studio. You can along “live” using the hashtag #HopeLiesUni100, and we’ll be periodically updating the list below as and when. Please feel free to nominate Universal films that you’d like to see us cover.

1. Vertigo (Alfred Hitchcock) 1958
2. Two-Lane Blacktop (Monte Hellman) 1971
3. The Birds (Alfred Hitchcock)  1963
4. The Incredible Hulk (Louis Leterrier) 2008
5. Fast Five (Justin Lin) 2011
6. A Countess From Hong Kong (Charles Chaplin) 1967
7. Wagon Master (John Ford) 1950
8. Repo Man (Alex Cox) 1984

This project is not endorsed by Universal Pictures, please don’t mistake it for some kind of tacky “advertorial” piece.

Nice idea. I’d nominate Touch of Evil (even though Universal didn’t exactly do it credit, and I think the rights might have lapsed)

Aren’t Paramount celebrating their 100th this year too? That would also have a good line-up: Chinatown, The Godfather, This Gun for Hire, Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief (I think?), Rosemary’s Baby, |If…, No Country for Old Men, Days of Heaven…
